Hobbs Family Photo
at Hobbs Hollow

This post is all about the photos! We took them on our phones, and I thought I might have missed my chance for fall photos, but I’m so glad we made it work. I arrived in Boca Chica at the end of September, and I can’t get over the beautiful sunsets here. It’s a 12-hour journey, but as soon as I arrive, I'm straight into workout clothes and swimsuits. Did I mention how much I love my new place? This apartment is so close to my heart—it’s my own slice of heaven, free from the scents of teens, dogs, or a husband. Just purely mine.

Reunion with my friends from middle school. I was invited to a school reunion and pleasantly surprised that most of my friends remember me. This group was my main friends from 5th to 8th grade.

Jenny's 40th Birthday

Tia Angela
Tia Angela bought me this delicious birthday cake.

The birthday was almost canceled because there was a storm that day. Luckily, after 2 hours the rain cleared up for a while. I hosted the party two blocks away from my place at the Rolling Stone Eco Hotel.

Second Birthday Celebration

I bought Dominican appetizers and a cake.

I was hoping to hire the amazing chef Dariana Velez, but she was playing hard to get and charging quite a bit. It didn't occur to me that she might be open to negotiating, so I decided to make the food myself instead. I also hired two girls to serve dinner and prepare drinks. We had sparkling cider and passion fruit mint mojito mocktails, which made it easier for everyone to relax and enjoy the evening. My favorite part was the singer—he was fantastic!

I wanted everything to be memorable. Once I get an idea in my head of how things should go, I feel very anxious until I accomplish that vision. My friend Leslie took care of all the decorating, and it looked amazing.

Beautiful view of the night

Birthday Surprise 3

After a 14-hour flight, this surprise from Jared and the boys was wonderful—a cheesecake from my favorite Cuban pastry shop. My friend Sheila Privett also made me some homemade bread.

We went out to celebrate my birthday over several date. The first one was just for Jared and me—we went to see Funny Girl and then headed to a Japanese bar and restaurant. We played bingo and enjoyed some delicious potstickers and sushi.

For the second date to celebrate my birthday, we took the boys to eat steak and listened to country music. Later we went to have frozen yogurt for dessert.

Salt Lake City Birthday

Jared and the boys hosted my friends, cooking and making sure everyone was comfortable. I wanted to celebrate with my Utah friends—a wonderfully eclectic group that makes everything a bit more fun. I know I can be demanding because I have high expectations of everyone around me (thanks to Martha Stewart!), but they did an amazing job. I was genuinely impressed with their efforts.
